My first web-development project — a single-file restaurant site built for a relative, written by hand in Notepad before I had a real toolchain.

Overview
Kaukaski Grill is the marketing and menu site for a relative's restaurant, and my very first web-development project — started around August/September 2025, written entirely in Notepad as a single HTML file before I'd built any real development setup.
Problem
The relative needed a simple, no-nonsense site — a browsable menu with real prices, and something presentable online — and provided the logo and requirements directly.
Approach
Everything lives in one hand-written HTML file with inline CSS and vanilla JavaScript, deployed to shared hosting. No framework, no build step — deliberately, since at the time I hadn't yet built the tooling knowledge the later projects rely on.
Engineering
- A full menu with prices and dish photos
- Basic interactive elements written in vanilla JavaScript
- Deployed and live on its own domain
Result / Current State
Live at kaukaskigrill.com. It's the least sophisticated thing I've shipped, and I keep it around deliberately — it's the clearest before/after marker of how far the engineering practice behind everything else here has come.
What I Learned
Everything was a first: first live deployment, first time structuring a page without a framework or a reference project to copy from.
